Company history

1925

The cornerstone of the company was laid back in 1925, when the founder Hermann Schill sen. started his business by developing different machines for butcheries, such as circular bone saws, knive sharpeners and machines for crushing ice blocks.

1955

Official foundation of the company MAJA by registration in the trade register of the town of Kehl on 15 July 1955. The company's rise through the decades of the 20th century began. The small craft enterprise from that time is nowadays one of the world's leading manufacturers of machinery for food processing.
Nostalgie

1958

The world's first derinding machine type SPE 58 is launched and takes off on its triumphal course through the world. It is a real revolution for meat companies, as the exhausting, time-consuming and also dangerous process of derinding meat pieces by handknive could be finally automated thanks to the new MAJA technology.

1963

The first MAJA flake ice producing machine, series EA, is launched.

1971

The company's founder Hermann Schill sen. dies in 1971. His three sons assume the management.

1994

MAJA is continuously growing: In summer 1994, the new administration building is inaugurated, with offices for the MAJA-management, the accounting and HR department as well as with a coference and training room, equipped with modern presentation media.

MAJA-Neubau

1997

The brothers Reinhard and Joachim Schill assume the sole management of the company. Two years later, in 1999, Berthold Gassmann is appointed Managing Director Sales.

Foundation of the daughter company MAJA Food-Technology, Inc. in Omaha / Nebraska (USA); Managing Director Paul Menting

2002

Foundation of the MAJAtronic GmbH, Kehl-Goldscheuer; Managing Director Hartmut Ilch

MAJAtronic works on innovation projects for machines and automation systems for the food processing sector:

  • machine developments
  • automation systems
  • picture processing (also in non-food)
  • mechatronics (also in non-food)

 

2003

Foundation of the French subsidiary MAJA SARL, based in Entzheim / Strasbourg (France); Managing Director Jürgen Hörter. 6 employees service the customers in France, one of the most important markets for MAJA in Europe.
